JBJonas BergFounder · why we built it

Every replay tool I tried wanted our users' sessions on their servers, which our customers' DPAs didn't allow. Tracebit stores everything in the Postgres you already run. One Docker image, no new database to babysit.

About

Sessions, rage-clicks and errors, stored in your own database. One Docker image, privacy masking on by default.

  • Your database, your dataSessions live in your Postgres. Nothing leaves your infrastructure.
  • Privacy masking by defaultInputs and text are masked until you opt specific elements in.
  • Errors with contextEvery JavaScript error links to the 30 seconds of replay before it.

Who it's for

  • Teams under GDPR or HIPAA
  • Developers who self-host their stack

Questions

How much storage does a session take?
About 40 KB per minute after compression, so a million sessions fit in roughly 120 GB.
Is the cloud version the same code?
Yes. Cloud is the open-source image plus managed backups.

Does masking cover canvas elements? We draw charts that include customer names.

Canvas is masked as a solid block by default; you can opt individual charts back in with data-tracebit-show.

Finally a replay tool our security team didn't veto. Setup took 15 minutes.
